Charlie Slick

Charlie Slick, prolific music man/machine and hearty philosopher is a long time favorite person of ours. We got to meet the man himself when we printed up a couple batches of shirts and as we got to know the guy behind the glitter and pelvic thrusts, we felt ultimately what Charlie liked to do was create; music, instruments, dance parties, love.

So when he approached us about helping him screen print his album cover for Elron Hubbard, we were stoked. The album is a labour of love, filled with warm, full, and natural sounds. Continuing that feeling, he wanted to screen print the covers himself and asked us to help burn the screens. After some finagling we made two over sized screens and he took it from there.  The final print came out beautiful with black and green halftones on white cardstock.

Our project with Charlie gets to the heart of what Modati is about, empowering people to make beautiful things. This project really worked because both of us have a love for craft and independence. We really respect how involved Charlie was with his album, beyond making all the wonderful noises, he took on all the packaging; that’s handsome.
