Appleseed Collective Tour Shirts

We just got Appleseed Collecitive, a local folk band, ready for their first tour with these great shirts. Andrew Brown, lead vocalist and guitarist for the band designed them and we made it a tshirt reality. They are super pleased with how they turned out.

Crisp Shirts and Toasted Studios

We've added a (temporary) design to the shop! The folks over at the Ann Arbor Mini Maker Faire had some shirts printed for this years fair and people loved them so much, we're hosting them until July 11. It's a great three colour design, we printed it off contact and without flashing between colours so the end result has crisp lines and a smooth lovely finish. Check it out here.

In other news, though a series of misguided and shadowy events, we discovered some great print spaces in Toronto.

Open Studio is Canada's leading printmaking centre, it's dedicated to the production, preservation and promotion of contemporary original fine art prints (in their own words). The shadow events prevented us from visiting the space, but we look forward to next time.

Model Citizen we did get a chance to visit. Amazing local prints, awesome leather bags, beautiful collection of antique men's jewelry, and they teach screen printing. You might be seeing some secret MODATI prints there soon…

If you're in the Toronto area make sure to check both these places out, you might learn how to do something new with you hands and your heart.

Updatable UV "Twitter" T-shirt Teaser

While the world all around sloshes cocktails and misplaced affection during December's grand finale, we here at MODATI studios slaved under our own hand to bring out the UV "Twitter" shirt*. This beauty lets your design our shirt with words, ideas, pictures, or in our case, Edward Said. The video below should answer all your questions while validating our existence. *MODATI loves sloshing and misplacing too! However we typically call that work.

REFROM: Craft Night(s) at the Gallery Project

ome down to Reform, a community based garment project, we’re hosting with our dear friends at the Gallery Project . It runs every Saturday in December and ends January 9th from 6-9pm.

We’ll have a LIVE screening printing setup and 3 identical sewing machines. Please come with articles of clothing, materials, experiences and ideas. It’s all free and it’s all open. We will share.

This is an attempt to get people excited about creatively managing their waste. The thinking is that whenever an object can be reused rather than buried in a landfill, it’s a worthy venture — not to mention an interesting challenge!

Modati Double Header: Fun Fun Weekend in Ann Arbor and Detroit

e’re doubling down this weekend for a gallery opening Friday and recycled fashion show on Saturday.

Our wonderful friends at Gallery Project invited us to present at their new show, Spring Collection 2010, opening Friday. We’ll have some art in the exhibit, some pieces in the fashion show, and we’ll be screen printing LIVE. Bring in old clothes and we’ll reform them! All the mayhem starts at 6 and runs until 9. Saturday sees us making our maiden voyage to Yes Farm, for their second recycled fashion show. If you forgotten button ups and hoodies couldn’t make it to Gallery Project, bring them to Yes Farm and we’ll happily LIVE print on them there. Make sure to check out everyone well’s sweet, sweat fueled work.

Both shows are free and full of possibilities. Bring lovers, rivals, and flourishing acquaintances.
